DEMOFall 08 Conference, San Diego and Mountain View, CA, - Plastic Logic previewed their first electronic reading device with revolutionary plastic electronics display.
According to Plastic Logic they are using the standard e-ink technology for the frontplane. The backplane (what turns the ink on and off) uses Plastic Logic’s proprietary plastic (not a widely used TFT backpanel) electronic technology that enables the large, thin, lightweight and robust form factor. Size of the display is 8.5 X 11 is thinner than a pad of paper and lighter than many business periodicals.
The device is capable of browsing documents in PDF format as well as Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Devices battery life will supposable be measured in days and will also have a wireless connectivity.
The Plastic Logic reader is scheduled to ship in the first half of 2009.
